1. About Us

Mel's Caravan Hire offers holiday accommodation in Ingoldmells, Skegness.

The caravans advertised on this website are either:

  • Privately owned by third-party caravan owners, where Mel's Caravan Hire acts as a booking agent on the owner's behalf, or
  • Owned by Calivans Ltd, trading as Mel's Caravan Hire.

Where caravans are privately owned by third parties, Mel's Caravan Hire manages enquiries, bookings, and guest communication on behalf of the owner.

Where caravans are owned by Calivans Ltd, bookings are made directly with Mel's Caravan Hire.

In all cases, Mel's Caravan Hire will be your main point of contact from your initial enquiry through to the end of your stay.


2. Booking Confirmation

A booking is not confirmed until:

  • Availability has been confirmed
  • Any required payment or deposit has been received
  • Booking confirmation has been issued

Only guests listed on the booking form are permitted to stay.

By proceeding with a booking, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.


3. Right to Refuse Bookings

Mel's Caravan Hire and/or the caravan owner reserve the right to refuse, decline, or cancel bookings where:

  • False or misleading information has been provided
  • The lead guest is under 18 years of age
  • Group bookings are considered unsuitable for the caravan or park
  • Previous damage, anti-social behaviour, or breaches of Terms & Conditions have occurred
  • We reasonably believe the booking may result in a breach of park rules or these Terms & Conditions

Where a booking is cancelled due to a breach of these Terms or misleading information being provided, refunds may be refused.


4. Occupancy Limits

The maximum number of guests must not exceed the stated berth of the caravan at any time.

Babies and infants count as guests. An 8 berth caravan allows 8 people in total, not 8 people plus a baby.

Exceeding the permitted occupancy is a breach of fire and safety regulations and may result in immediate removal from the site with no refund.

Bookings are for holiday use only. Parties, events, or unauthorised gatherings are not permitted.


5. Payments, Deposits & Balance

A deposit is required to secure a booking.

The booking deposit also acts as a security and damage deposit.

A £50 booking deposit is required for all bookings unless otherwise agreed in writing.

The remaining balance must be paid no later than 6 weeks before the arrival date unless prior arrangement has been agreed in writing.

If full payment is not received by the 6 week deadline and no prior authorisation has been given, we reserve the right to:

  • Cancel the booking
  • Retain any payments already made
  • Re-release the dates for rebooking

Payment plans may be offered at the owner's discretion.


6. Cancellations by the Guest

If you need to cancel your booking, please notify us as soon as possible.

If a booking is cancelled:

  • The deposit paid is non-refundable
  • If cancellation occurs within 6 weeks of the stay, all payments made will be retained

Cancellation terms are set by the caravan owner (or by Calivans Ltd where the caravan is owned directly) and apply regardless of the reason for cancellation.

For this reason, guests are strongly advised to take out suitable holiday insurance to cover unforeseen circumstances.

No refunds are payable for stays that are cut short.

Administration fees and fees for optional extras are non-refundable as outlined elsewhere within these Terms & Conditions.


7. Changes to Your Booking

Requests to change dates, caravan, park, or guest details are subject to availability and owner approval where applicable.

An administration fee of £25 applies to cover the time involved in processing booking amendments, including adding or removing guests or making changes to booking details once a booking has been confirmed.

All administration fees are non-refundable regardless of whether the booking later proceeds or is cancelled.


8. Optional Extras

Early check-in and late check-out may be available on selected caravans, subject to availability and cleaner scheduling.

Fees paid for early check-in or late check-out are non-refundable under all circumstances, including where the booking is later cancelled, as additional cleaning arrangements and scheduling costs are incurred once these options are booked.


9. Arrival and Departure

Check-in is from 4:00pm on the day of arrival.

Check-out is by 10:00am on the day of departure.

These times are set to allow for cleaning and preparation. Late departure without prior agreement may result in additional charges.


10. Care of the Caravan & Cleaning Responsibilities

All caravans are professionally cleaned between guests.

Holiday caravans are cleaned to a good domestic standard between guests but are not maintained to hotel or sterile-room standards.

Cleaners do not clean or sanitise:

  • Cutlery and crockery
  • Pots, pans, and cookware
  • Ovens, oven trays, or grill pans

Guests are responsible for ensuring that:

  • All cutlery, dishes, and cookware are washed, dried, and put away
  • Ovens and trays are left clean and usable

If additional cleaning is required due to excessive mess, dirt, misuse, or failure to leave the caravan in a reasonable condition, additional charges may apply.


11. Insects & Natural Environment

Caravans are situated within coastal holiday parks and natural outdoor environments. During warmer weather, guests may occasionally encounter insects or wildlife commonly found in these settings, including ants, flies, spiders, and similar insects.

The presence of occasional insects does not necessarily indicate poor cleanliness, poor maintenance, or infestation.

While caravans are cleaned and prepared before arrival, guests are expected to help minimise the attraction of insects by:

  • Storing food appropriately
  • Cleaning up crumbs and spillages
  • Disposing of rubbish responsibly
  • Avoiding leaving food or drinks exposed

Where issues are reported during a stay, reasonable efforts will be made to assist where practicable. However, refunds or compensation will not be offered for naturally occurring insects commonly associated with holiday park or coastal environments.


12. Damage & Security Deposit

A damage deposit is taken with all bookings.

If damage, breakages, excessive cleaning, or losses exceed the deposit amount, guests agree to pay the full additional cost.

Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Broken fixtures or fittings
  • Damage to verandas or gates
  • Rips, tears, or stains on soft furnishings
  • Excessive cleaning or specialist cleaning

Any additional charges must be settled within 7 days of invoice.


13. Pets

Only caravans advertised as pet friendly permit dogs.

No cats or other pets are permitted unless agreed in writing before booking.

Where pets are permitted:

  • Only well behaved dogs are allowed
  • Pets must not be left unattended in the caravan
  • Guests must clean up after their pets

Pet friendly caravans are cleaned between guests; however, it is not possible to guarantee that all traces of pet hair or pet allergens will be completely removed.

Guests with allergies or sensitivities to animals should consider booking a designated pet free caravan.

Pet free caravans must remain pet free at all times.

Failure to comply may result in additional cleaning charges.


14. Smoking & Safety

Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside all caravans.

Guests must not tamper with smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, or other safety equipment, including removing batteries.

Any damage caused by smoking, vaping, or interference with safety equipment will be charged in full, including specialist cleaning where required.


15. Behaviour & Park Rules

All guests must comply with park rules and behave considerately towards other guests, staff, and neighbouring caravans.

Caravan parks are managed by onsite wardens who have the authority to enforce park rules.

If park rules are breached, wardens may require guests to leave the site immediately with no refund given, in line with park policy.

Mel's Caravan Hire is not responsible for decisions made by park management or wardens.


16. Electric Vehicles

Charging electric vehicles from caravan power supplies is strictly prohibited.

Caravans operate on limited electrical capacity, and unauthorised charging may overload systems and pose a fire risk.

If vehicle charging is identified, the booking may be terminated without refund in line with park rules. Public charging facilities are available locally.


17. Keys and Key Fobs

Keys and key fobs must be returned at the end of the stay.

Lost, stolen, or unreturned keys will incur a minimum charge of £50 to cover standard lock replacement.

Where a lost key results in additional costs, such as locksmith call-outs or replacement locks, guests agree to pay the full additional cost incurred.

Lost or unreturned key fobs will incur a charge of £20, with any additional costs charged where applicable.


18. Resort Facilities and Utilities

Mel's Caravan Hire provides holiday accommodation only and has no control over park facilities, services, or infrastructure.

Caravan parks manage and maintain site facilities, including water, electricity, drainage, Wi-Fi, and shared services, and may carry out maintenance or experience interruptions from time to time.

Parks also reserve the right to close facilities, alter entertainment programmes, or restrict access without notice.

Entertainment passes, swimming passes, or other park facility passes are not included unless specifically stated in writing at the time of booking.

No compensation is payable for interruption, reduction, or withdrawal of park facilities, Wi-Fi, entertainment, or utilities that are outside of our control.


19. Problems During Your Stay

If an issue arises during your stay, guests must report it as soon as reasonably possible so that an opportunity can be given to investigate and resolve the matter.

Refunds or compensation will not normally be considered where issues are only reported after the stay has ended and no opportunity to resolve the issue was provided.


20. Access to the Caravan

Mel's Caravan Hire, the caravan owner, park management, or authorised contractors may require reasonable access to the caravan during a stay for maintenance, inspection, safety checks, emergency repairs, or investigation of breaches of these Terms & Conditions.

Where possible, notice will be given in advance.


21. Liability & Personal Property

Where caravans are privately owned, Mel's Caravan Hire acts as a booking agent only. Responsibility for the accommodation rests with the caravan owner.

Where caravans are owned by Calivans Ltd, responsibility rests with Mel's Caravan Hire.

Guests are responsible for their own personal property. Items left in the caravan are left entirely at the guest's own risk.

Vehicles parked on or near the caravan park are parked at the owner's risk. Mel's Caravan Hire accepts no responsibility for loss of or damage to vehicles or their contents.

Nothing within these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory rights.


22. Fraudulent Claims & Chargebacks

Guests agree not to initiate unjustified payment disputes or chargebacks without first contacting Mel's Caravan Hire to attempt resolution.

Where a chargeback or payment dispute is raised fraudulently or without valid reason, we reserve the right to recover associated costs, fees, and outstanding balances.

Providing false information or deliberately attempting to obtain refunds through dishonest claims may result in the matter being referred to the relevant authorities or debt recovery services.


23. Privacy

Personal information is used solely for managing bookings and guest communication.

Details may be shared with caravan owners where necessary for booking management purposes. Information is not shared for unrelated marketing purposes.


24. Events Outside Our Control

Mel's Caravan Hire and caravan owners are not liable for cancellations, interruptions, or changes caused by events outside reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Severe weather
  • Flooding
  • Fire
  • Government restrictions
  • Utility failures
  • Epidemics or pandemics
  • Park closures
  • Industrial disputes
  • Acts of God

Where appropriate, refunds will be limited to monies paid for the booking only.


25. Owner or Provider Cancellations

In the unlikely event that a booking must be cancelled by the owner or service provider, a full refund of payments made will be offered.

No further compensation shall be payable.


26. Agreement

By making payment towards a booking, guests confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to abide by these Terms & Conditions.
